Shrink sleeve labelling machine are no longer used only for simple cylindrical bottles. As packaging shapes become more distinctive, equipment must handle oval containers, tapered necks, flat panels, curved shoulders, and multi-part structures. A machine that performs well on standard round bottles may struggle when container geometry changes, so matching equipment capability to actual packaging complexity is essential for stable production.
One of the most important considerations is container stability during transport. Lightweight bottles, flexible pouches, and irregular shapes can shift easily on the conveyor, which affects sleeve placement accuracy. Proper guide rails, star wheels, belt selection, and container support must be adjusted to prevent tilting or rotation before the sleeve is applied. In some cases, additional fixtures or specialized transfer plates are needed to keep containers aligned at higher speeds.
Film feeding accuracy also becomes more critical when sleeves include tamper-evident bands, promotional graphics, or multi-zone designs. If the registration mark is not detected consistently, the sleeve may rotate slightly after shrinking, causing misaligned logos or uneven neck and body coverage. Machines with precise servo-driven feeding and stable sensor systems can reduce this risk, especially when running thin films or high-gloss printed sleeves.
Changeover convenience is another practical factor for operations with multiple SKUs. Frequent product switching requires quick adjustment of container guides, film paths, cutting length, and shrink tunnel settings. Equipment designed with modular components, digital recipe storage, and clear adjustment points can shorten setup time and reduce operator error. For contract packagers and seasonal product lines, this flexibility often matters more than maximum theoretical speed.
